About
Cotati-Rohnert Park Co-op Nursery School uses its little red schoolhouse to teach children about empathy, kindness, self-confidence, and a lifelong love for learning. The program follows a whole child philosophy that promotes the physical, social-emotional, and intellectual development of students in a nurturing, play-based learning environment. It offers a co-op, family and community-driven setting with small class sizes of 10–16 students and a 1:5 student-to-adult ratio, with parents working and playing alongside their children for a gentle transition from home to school.
• Ages: 2–5 years old
Serving Sonoma County families through care and community since 1953, Cotati-Rohnert Park Co-op Nursery School was created by a group of local mothers intent on raising the county’s children as a community. The school operates as a 501(c)3 nonprofit cooperative preschool and is licensed by the California State Department of Social Services, license #490102400, and fully conforms to all state laws regulating childcare and school facilities. Teachers hold permits from the California Commission on Teaching Credentials (CCTC) and pass rigorous background and safety checks. Because families are highly involved, children and parents often develop close and lasting friendships with other families and teachers in the community. The program is now enrolling for the 2026–2027 school year.
“Absolutely love being part of this co-op family. Getting to connect with other parents & being involved with my child’s development has been such a tremendous gift. If it weren’t for the co-op & lower tuition than other preschools my child wouldn’t be able to have a preschool experience. We are so grateful to the staff & board for keeping our little red school house open!” — CRPCNS Alumni Parent
“I highly appreciate the attention and passion you put towards teaching the kids. Based on taking tours of others schools for TK/kindergarten, it’s evident that the kids at CRPCNS are well prepared for their next chapter. Thank you for getting them ready and making them all feel welcomed!” — CRPCNS Alumni Parent
"I love being part of a community of people who are gathered for the greater good of our children. Never have I encountered a person who was not willing to step in and answer a question, offer assistance or just generally be there for each other as we all navigate learning new behaviors and exposing our children to new methods of play, social interactions, etc." — CRPCNS Alumni Parent
“We have two girls going through this school and it is the best educational decision we ever could have made. We would do it all over again in a heartbeat. If you are looking for a school that is also a community, where you get to be involved in all aspects of your child’s preschool experience, this is it!” — CRPCNS Alumni Parent
