Kesem offers summer camp, virtual monthly events, Friends + Family Day, and on-site gatherings in the community. The program includes peer connection, emotional expression, and recreational activities. Kesem describes itself as “A child's friend through and beyond a parent's cancer.”

Kesem states that its programs are clinically proven to play a critical role in enhancing quality of life by offering peer connection, emotional expression, recreational activities, and a sense of normalcy and empowerment in the face of family illness. Kesem offers virtual monthly events for year-round connection and a day of community connection with new and old friends. Kesem offers on-site gatherings in the community for kids while their parents receive care.
Kesem’s mission is to create a world where every child who has a parent with a cancer diagnosis or has lost a parent to cancer is never alone, and to support these children through and beyond their parent’s cancer with free, fun-filled creative programs and a lasting community. Kesem has a stated commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Kesem programs are led by passionate and expertly trained college students, Kesem alumni, and staff.
A former Kesem camper and college student volunteer shared, “Because of Kesem, I am a better human... I've learned what it means to lead with empathy. I've grown stronger, kinder, and more open-hearted. I've found a family that inspires me to be my best self.” A Kesem parent shared, “Camp Kesem has been magical for our daughter and family, providing support beyond what we could have imagined and really lifting our daughter up when she needed it. It's an incredible program that we are very grateful for!”
