Dance Academy USA was established in 1990 by Jane Carter and James Carter and has served over a hundred thousand families in its 36 years of business. Jane Carter is the Founding Director, and James (Jim) Carter is the co-founder; Jim Carter has worked in the real estate industry since 1993 and is President of the Real Estate Coaching Organization. Jane Carter earned her Bachelor’s Degree from San Jose State University, where she was a member of the Spartan Spectrum Dance Team and studied Human Performance/Fitness with a minor in Nutrition and Food Science. In 1985, she was selected by Dole Corporation to be the company’s ambassador promoting dance, modeling, and aerobics in Japan, created the first dance team for the NBA Golden State Warriors, and later danced for the San Francisco 49ers as a Gold Rush cheerleader, frequently representing both teams at charity events, promotional business, and television appearances. She has been featured in Fit & Runner’s World magazines, Evening Magazine, San Jose Mercury News, San Francisco Chronicle, and several local papers, and she danced in a Jeep commercial as well as Super Bowl XIX. Jane Carter served as Managing Director of American Spirit Association, which held 3–5 day dance camps at colleges across the United States, and as Artistic Director of School House Sports, which offered dance classes to preschools, public schools, and private schools and was at one time the largest dance studio outreach program in Northern California. She founded Dance Academy USA’s competition team in 1991 and later served as Director of the NBA Warrior Dance Team and Creator and Director of Arena Football’s San Jose SaberKittens.
