About
Star Kids Academy Robotics offers interactive STEAM learning through projects, workshops, gaming events, and community engagements. The program includes a play-based kindergarten robotics program, after-school classes, school break camps, and at-home tutoring. Students take part in cooperative gaming and team competition as part of the robotics and gaming-focused activities.
• Ages: 5–13 years old
Star Kids Academy Robotics states that it is dedicated to elevating education for children ages 5–13 through interactive STEAM learning, using motivational systems enriched with gamification. The program features 8 different themed camps, including Thanksgiving, winter, spring, and summer break camps, along with 7 camp themes, a camp gamification system, a track system, class incentives, and an academy-certified structure. Its curriculum is carefully crafted to promote cognitive, social, and emotional development and meets or exceeds NGSS for scientific inquiry and engineering design, CSTA for computer science, and ISTE for technology fluency. The program uses a specialized points system to motivate students using gaming mechanics within projects and workshops, including a student track point system with future benefits in the Academy, where points for each accomplishment, project, or completed assignment can be used for upgrades and boosts within a student’s track for future use. Each student who completes a camp or semester class receives an endorsed certification for completion under Star Kids Academy standards, and camp and class completion have future value and benefit within the Academy.
The play-based kindergarten robotics program is intended to bring beginning critical thinking, memory, and decision-making experiences in the theme of robotics to students aged 5–6. Students begin with cooperative gaming to get used to the mechanics of gaming in a non-competitive way, then learn the fundamentals of sportsmanship and ease into team competition. Students who complete projects first have the option to earn points for mentorship, and leadership and positive communication with others is awarded. The program also offers student mentors, co-op gaming, and paired at-home tutoring for competition teams and personalized tracks for mentoring students who want to learn from home.
Star Kids Academy Robotics reports over 28 years of teaching experience, 30 years teaching, and over 11 years of experience in the classroom teaching robotics. Its Certified System is credentialed to fulfill standards in ISTE, NGSS, and CSTA. The program includes gaming events and community engagements that aim to enhance each child’s overall development, and it states that Star Kids Academy supports each family in their educational goals. One parent testimonial states, “Thank you for putting together such a wonderful class, I know how much Lucas enjoyed it. He enjoys your class, and I know he wants to continue in the future. Thanks again for putting together a great program!” from Tom, Parent.
