Family Connections was founded in 1993 in a one-bedroom apartment in East Palo Alto and has been serving Peninsula families for 30 years. Babies in Bloom serves pregnant families and caregivers with children from birth to 12 months. Nurturing Families classes serve children from 12 months to 36 months and their parents or caregivers, and Co-op Preschool classes serve children 3 to 5 years of age and their parents or caregivers. Program activities support children’s transition to kindergarten, and the preschool class uses a co-op model. Family Service Coordinators partner with families to assess needs, set collaborative goals, and support families in meeting their desired outcomes. Mental health services include individual therapy for children and adults, couples therapy, family therapy, and support groups, with staff available to meet in the family’s home, on-site, virtually, or in the community. Family Connections is an exclusive provider of the Positive Parenting Program (Triple P) in San Mateo County and works with community organizations that partner to support families and communities. The mission of Family Connections is to offer a family learning community focused on education and growth for children and their parents and caregivers, uplifting families in under-resourced communities through early childhood education, family support, and mental health services, with free high-quality whole-family education paired with in-depth whole family support.
