Education at Athenian is described as a way of life pioneered by founder Dyke Brown over 60 years ago. The Athenian School is a co-educational, college preparatory boarding and day school for grades 6–12 that features experiential learning such as the Athenian Wilderness Experience (AWE), Focus Days, March Term, and Global Education. The program lists Quincy McLaughlin as Interim Head of School. The school states that it is built on the ideals of internationalism, democracy, environmentalism, adventure, leadership, and service, and that it teaches big lessons and creates big-time learners. The campus includes residential life with campus dorms for BIPOC Camp Residential Counselors and campers.
