Danville Oaks Rugby Football Club offers youth rugby activities that include flag rugby, tackle rugby, scrums, line-outs, conversion kicks, and instruction in Rugby Union Laws. The program includes Fall Clinics (Free & Non-Contact), Youth Regular Season 15s, High School Regular Season 15s, and Summer 7s, with a focus on rugby techniques and strategies. The club consists of six age groups from U8s through high school, with play becoming more competitive as players advance in age and ability.

• Schedule: U8, U10, U12, and Boys Middle School seasons run from December through March; Girls Middle School and Varsity Girls seasons run from January through May; training generally begins in December and increases in frequency through the main season

The U8 program mainly consists of 1st and 2nd graders (coed) and plays flag rugby with coaches allowed on the field during matches, using 5 players on a side and unlimited substitutions, and may offer a Danville-based internal league as numbers permit. The U10 program is primarily 3rd and 4th graders (coed), plays tackle rugby on roughly half a regulation field for two 10 to 15 minute halves with a number 4 ball, has 10 players on a side with unlimited substitutions, uses uncontested scrums with no line-outs and no conversion kicks, and may offer an Oaks-based internal league and travel teams as numbers permit. The U12 program is primarily for 5th and 6th graders (coed), plays tackle rugby on roughly half a regulation field for two 15 to 20 minute halves with a number 4 ball, has 12 players on a side with unlimited substitutions, and uses uncontested scrums, contested line-outs, and no conversion kicks after a try.

The Boys Middle School program is primarily for 7th and 8th graders and 6th graders who have turned 12 by September 1 preceding the season, plays full tackle rugby on a regulation field for two 30-minute halves with a number 5 ball, has 15 players on a side with unlimited substitutions, and uses 8-man scrums, contested line-outs, and conversion kicks under Rugby Union Laws. The Girls Middle School program is primarily for 7th and 8th graders and 6th graders who have turned 12 by September 1 preceding the season, plays 7-a-side full tackle rugby on a regulation field for two 7-minute halves with a number 5 ball, has 7 players on a side with unlimited substitutions, plays in a tournament format with multiple 7s games in a day, and uses 3-man scrums, contested line-outs, and conversion kicks under Rugby Union Laws. The Varsity Girls team is for freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors who have not reached age 19 by September 1 and are within four years of first enrolling in ninth grade, including some early graduates or GED students, plays in the Rugby NorCal Varsity Girls Division 1 with two 35-minute halves and a 10-minute halftime under Rugby Union Laws, and involves travel with associated costs not included in registration.

The HS Varsity and Academy program is for high school players who have not reached age 19 by September 1 and are within four years of first enrolling in ninth grade, including some early graduates or GED students, and the Oaks High School program includes players of all skill levels. Rugby training for U8, U10, U12, and Middle School begins in December on Saturdays and increases to two nights a week from January through March, with games on Saturdays and Sundays, and the Oaks take a break for the holidays in late December and early January. High school teams typically practice three nights a week from December through May, with games on Saturdays and Sundays, and the Varsity Girls season may include post-season tournaments.

The Oaks Rugby Club’s mission is to provide youth in the Tri-Valley qualified instruction in rugby fundamentals and to engender a life-long love of the sport. Special attention is given to character development, including community service. The Oaks Rugby Football Club is a member of Rugby NorCal and USA Youth & High School Rugby, and the Danville Oaks Rugby Football Association is a California nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation and a member of USA Rugby and the Northern California Youth Rugby Association. The club is led by a 2025–2026 Board.
