About
The Diamond Academy of Performing Arts offers musical productions, group classes, private lessons, Show Choir, recitals, plays, and a Summer Camp. Students can study Speech Arts & Drama techniques, public speaking, and speech arts, and can take part in a Winter Musical and Spring Musical. The program also offers Trinity College of London examination opportunities and access to international festivals.
• Ages: 4–18 years old
• Price: An annual $50.00 registration fee will be applied per student for those registered in monthly classes. A $50.00 fee will be applied each term for those registered in a musical. In the event of insufficient funds or closed accounts, account holders will be charged a $25.00 service fee in addition to regular tuition.
The Diamond Academy of Performing Arts states that its mission is to foster a life-long love of communication and performance while helping students to build their confidence, comprehension, critical thinking, self-esteem and executive functioning skills. Technique classes run year-long, and Play Production and Musical Production Classes are a term commitment, including Winter Musical and Spring Musical options. The academy offers both in-person and online classes, with students joining from around the world, and provides custom curriculums tailored to each individual student through bespoke classes that suit all ages and abilities.
The academy is led by Founder Andrea Johnston, who holds a BA, BFA, and a Certificate of Liberal Arts from Simon Fraser University, an ARCT in Speech Arts and Drama from the Royal Conservatory of Music, is a Canadian National Voice Intensive Graduate, and holds an ATCL in Speech and Drama from Trinity College of London. Students have the opportunity to study using the Trinity College of London curriculum, which in some cases offers college accreditation, and many students enrolled in these classes have medaled in international competitions, signed with talent agencies, and received the highest level in their Trinity College of London Exams. The program focuses on developing confidence, comprehension, creativity, presentation and leadership abilities through Speech Arts, Performance, Drama and Public Speaking classes.
