About
Young Learners Academy offers a preschool program that includes daily themed activities such as Movement Monday, Tasty Tuesday, Artsy Wednesday, Silly Stem Thursday, and Fun Friday. The program includes a balance of teacher-directed and student-directed activities throughout the day, along with a personalized and developmentally appropriate enrichment program. The preschool day is structured so that children take part in both an initial preschool program and a second part of the day called “Stay and Play.”
• Ages: 2–5 years old
Young Learners Academy is a preschool with multiple locations serving the Tri-Valley area and provides childcare and early education to children ages 2 through 5. The first part of the preschool program focuses on school readiness by introducing academic subjects such as math, science, and phonics through teacher instruction and active student participation. The second part of the preschool program, called “Stay and Play,” follows preschool routines with an “after school program” approach where children are encouraged to learn through their environment and play.
Young Learners Academy was created by Kayla Young, Owner and Director of both YLA locations, with the vision of building the preschool program she wished existed for her own children. In 2022, Kayla and Zachary Young started Young Learners Academy. The mission of Young Learners Academy states that it provides a high-quality, integrated program amidst an atmosphere of love and respect, where children develop emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially, and that the goal is to be part of each family’s “village.”
Young Learners Academy notes that it takes pride in being a school built with intention, heart, and a deep understanding of what families in the community need. One parent, Katherine E., shared that Young Learners Academy has become part of their family and described the staff as friendly and the environment as warm, also noting that her 2-year-old asked to enroll in the full-day program. Another parent, Mandy T., described the school as beautiful and clean, said it feels like home when walking inside, and stated that teachers have treated her children like their own and formed lasting relationships.
