• Ages: 2–5 years old
Young Learners Academy provides childcare and early education to children ages 2 through 5 in a high-quality, integrated program amidst an atmosphere of love and respect. The program focuses on children’s emotional, intellectual, physical, and social development and uses a balance of teacher-directed and student-directed activities throughout the day. Children are encouraged and promoted to learn through their environment and play, and the program offers a personalized and developmentally appropriate enrichment program.
The first part of the preschool program focuses on school readiness by introducing academic subjects such as math, science, and phonics. The second part of the preschool program, called “Stay and Play,” follows preschool routines with a fun “after school program” approach and includes the daily themed activities Movement Monday, Tasty Tuesday, Artsy Wednesday, Silly Stem Thursday, and Fun Friday.
Young Learners Academy was started in 2022 by Kayla and Zachary Young. The program is dreamed up, created, and operated by moms raising children in the community. The leadership team includes co-directors Kayla Young and Amy Lundberg, and co-director Kayla Young has spent more than 10 years working in children’s education.
Young Learners Academy states that it views its role as supplementing the primary role of families in providing care and guidance for their children. The school establishes open and ongoing communication with families to strengthen the ties that connect the home with the preschool, enhance the development of children in its care, and focus on the personal needs of each child.
One parent, Kelly C, states that their family loves Young Learners Academy and that their kids are safe, happy, learning, and loving their time there, and that they would give the program “10,000 stars” if possible. Another parent, Ali B, describes the school as beautiful, spacious, and clean, and describes the directors and teachers as great and creating a loving and enriching environment, calling the preschool “top notch” and highly recommended.
