The program also includes the Circles Program for adults who want to play together and a 12 Week Learn to Jam Journey for beginner and intermediate players who want to learn how to play music with others.
• Ages: 0–18 years old
• Schedule: 12 Week Learn to Jam Journey
PlayReady Music is led by David Abramson, who states that he helps people learn the language of music and discover and nurture their inner-musician. Over the past 15 years, he reports having worked with hundreds of people of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels. The mission of PlayReady Music states that music is for everyone, not just for a select few with special gifts and talents, and that the program is about musical proficiency, community, belonging, and what brings families together in times of good and bad. The program serves musicians “in Davis, CA and beyond.”
PlayReady Music offers private music lessons for all ages, including students from 5 to 70 years old, and lessons are available both in-person and on Zoom. Lessons are geared toward beginner and intermediate musicians but accept musicians at all skill levels. Group programs are available for adults, for families and children ages 3–17, for families with kids ages 0–5, and for teens and ‘tweens ages 9–17. The Bluegrass Jam Camp lists Fall 2026–Spring 2027 dates and locations as to be announced. PlayReady Music offers a free musical journey strategy call, a free 20 minute consultation and mini-lesson, and an option to stay in the loop with exclusive content, recorded classes, and advance access to upcoming offerings, new programs, and free classes. PlayReady Music’s learning method states that it teaches students to play the music they love and enjoy, play what they hear, play the music they feel in their bones, develop sound musical understanding, fluency, and proficiency on their instrument, and connect with other musicians in community and song.
Parent and adult testimonials describe experiences with keyboard, ukulele, guitar, and other instruments in both Zoom and in-person lessons, and mention that David often plays along on a different instrument. Several testimonials mention students looking forward to weekly lessons, playing songs within the first few lessons or months, and practicing at home. One testimonial describes a “safe and playful atmosphere” and mentions moving from formal classical flute playing to jamming, while others note patience, kindness, and working with songs the student wants to learn.
