Poppy Preschool Cooperative

Poppy Preschool Cooperative is a non-profit, parent co-operative preschool with play-based programs for children 12 months to 5 years old. It offers Early Explorers, a “baby and me” class where a parent stays with the child; Seeds, where parents participate in the classroom about twice a month; and Sprouts, where four parents work in the class each school day, with some spots allowing parents to opt out of classroom work. It also offers Blossom for returning Sprout students or children eligible for kindergarten the following year, plus Playcare for parents working in the classroom and Stay & Play for a limited number of Sprouts families.

Programs

• Early Explorers — 1-2 years old · Fridays from 12:00pm - 1:30pm · A “baby and me” style class where a parent stays with their child.
• Seeds — 2-3 years old · Thursdays and Fridays from 9:00am - 11:00am · Parents participate in the classroom approximately twice a month.
• Sprouts — 2y9m-5 years old · Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 9:00am - 12:00pm · Children must be 3 years old by December 1st to be eligible. Some spots allow parents to opt out of working in the classroom.
• Blossom — 4-5 years old · Thursdays from 12:15pm - 3:00pm · $110 per month · Students must be returning Sprout class students or be kindergarten-eligible for the following year.

About the provider

Poppy Preschool is staffed by certified early childhood educators and is licensed by the California State Department of Social Services. Its mission is to foster social-emotional and academic development through a child-led play based curriculum, while also supporting parents and creating community through conversations, events and experiences. Families and teachers work hand-in-hand, and the preschool was established in 1973 as an outreach of Davis Community Church.

• Playcare — Two times a month during the Seeds and Sprouts classes · A service for parents working in the classroom, for older or younger children who need care.
• Stay & Play — After regular Sprouts class has ended · Offered to a limited number of Sprouts Class families. Enrollment is first-come, first-served based on interest.

Poppy Preschool Cooperative is a non-profit, parent co-operative preschool. It teaches no religious doctrine and welcomes families from all faiths, backgrounds, and traditions. It admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin and does not discriminate on those bases. Children must be 3 years old by December 1st for Sprouts. Blossom is for returning Sprout class students or kindergarten-eligible students for the following year.
