The Summer Enrichment Program (SEP) began over 30 years ago. The program is designed to provide disadvantaged students with activities that will enhance their veterinary school applications. Students must be from a disadvantaged background to be eligible, and SEP is open to all students, regardless of residency status, including international students. Students who are or were previously enrolled in an international veterinary medicine program are not eligible.
About a quarter of SEP graduates go on to attend the UC Davis veterinary school, while others pursue their veterinary training at other schools across the nation. The UC Davis Weill School of Veterinary Medicine is ranked as the #1 nationally ranked veterinary school. The leadership team includes Mark Stetter, Dean (Dean Mark D. Stetter).
Students must be able to provide up to date vaccination records for COVID-19, tetanus, and Rabies Vaccine or Waiver by May 15, and proof of vaccination status must be submitted before arriving on campus. Summer 2026 planning begins in January 2026, and the application for summer 2026 will be open from January 12 to March 6 at 5:00 pm PDT.
“The Summer Enrichment Program at UC Davis SVM was the best experience of my life!! Highly recommend to anyone who is looking to diversify their veterinary experience and has struggled along their journey to vet school.” - @aeuhk, SEP graduate. “The Summer Enrichment Program is a life-changing experience for undergraduate students.” - Mark Stetter, Dean.
