About
CurtisCARE Child Development and Clinical Service Programs offers Early Start Infant & Toddler Intervention through center-based, in-home, and clinical services. The program includes an Early Start Infant Development Program, with activities that support growth in physical, cognitive, communication, social-emotional, and adaptive (self-help) areas. Children may receive individual or group speech and language therapy, AAC support for non-verbal children, and occupational therapy that includes sensory integration, fine motor development, gross motor development, and daily living skills.

CurtisCARE Child Development and Clinical Service Programs was established in 2006. The staff includes Infant Development Specialists, Speech & Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Bilingual Family Support Specialists, and Behavior Interventionists. The program operates under the direction of Senior Program Director Lucina A. Mena, whose leadership team has over 35 years of experience in child development, early intervention, and California’s community care system. Its mission is to increase access and improve the quality of early intervention and clinical services for children with special needs by delivering developmentally appropriate, culturally responsive, and family-centered care. CurtisCARE is licensed by the State of California and is vendored through South Central Los Angeles Regional Center (SCLARC). Services are provided in English and Spanish, with multilingual, multicultural outreach, and parents are always welcome during program hours, with guest visits by appointment only. CurtisCARE actively partners with public and private agencies, early childhood and medical providers, local schools, pediatric clinics, mental health providers, and early education centers, and serves multicultural communities in Compton, Carson, Downey, and surrounding areas throughout southern California.
