Downey Futbol Club (Downey FC) offers competitive soccer and soccer training for community youth. The program focuses on the fundamentals of the game and encourages an appreciation for the game of soccer, including the importance of “The Spirit of the Game.”
Downey FC has operated since 2009 and has provided an opportunity for young people to play soccer in a safe and positive environment. The club is an equal opportunity organization that gives community youth access to play on a competitive soccer team. Its mission includes emphasizing sportsmanship and respect for opponents, officials, and parents, and using the game as a medium to help mold players into responsible and productive citizens within the community. Downey FC is a proud member of US Club Soccer and competes in the SoCal Soccer League. The organization is dedicated to the development of the community’s youth through competitive soccer. Leadership associated with the club includes Daniel Castillo, who was mentioned in an L.A. Times article as headed to Stanford.
