The El Centro Police Department founded El Centro PAL in 1994 as a self-funded non-profit youth crime prevention program. The mission of the El Centro Police Activities League is to provide recreational, educational, and athletic programs for all youth. El Centro PAL offers sports and activities at no or very minimal cost to accommodate families in El Centro and Imperial Valley, and enrollment includes youth from across Imperial County, including Brawley, Calexico, Imperial, Seeley, Heber, Holtville, and Calipatria. El Centro PAL practices inclusion, with youth with disabilities participating in all programs, and depends on volunteers, fundraisers, donations, and grant funding, including support from Union Pacific Foundation and United Way of Imperial County. The organization hosts tournaments and encourages external independent teams to register and participate, and National Night Out is a public event for families and youth of all ages. The Board of Directors includes President Sandy Liera, Vice President Adriana Kirby, Treasurer Simon Canalez, Secretary Joe Jack Barker, and Directors Andra Alford, Chanel Chastain, Efrain Tanori, Ruben Castro, and Douglas Newland, with Edward Preciado serving as Executive Director and Tony Gutierrez as Programs & Events Director.
