BACR Expanded Learning Summer Programs include STEM learning, coding, exploring the solar system, measuring ingredients in a cooking class, computer learning, board games, homework support, academic interventions, credit-recovery for high school students, and restorative circles. The program offers activities that follow positive youth development principles and emphasizes youth voice and restorative circles. Programs are customized to each school community and are rooted in the California Quality Standards.

• Ages: 4–14 years old
• Schedule: Operates for approximately 200 days per year, with at least three hours of program time during the school year and up to nine hours per day during summer and non-school days

For more than four decades, Bay Area Community Resources (BACR) has delivered a wide range of services to schools and other community settings throughout the greater San Francisco Bay Area. BACR serves students from transitional kindergarten through 12th grade and offers summer camp style programs for 4 to 14 year olds, serving up to 650 students per day in the summer months. BACR provides strengths-based, trauma-informed direct services and is described as well established, large scale, and diversified in its programs, services, geography, communities, and funding sources.

BACR provides services to schools and other community settings throughout the greater San Francisco Bay Area, including expanded learning opportunities in Alameda, Antioch, Berkeley, Oakland, Pittsburg, Richmond, San Pablo, and Vallejo. Programs in San Francisco are made possible through partnerships with the San Francisco Unified School District, the San Francisco Department of Children, Youth and Their Families (DCYF), and the San Francisco Beacon Initiative, and BACR coordinates with school administration and site-based family resource centers in San Rafael. BACR is recognized as a key partner in the City of Richmond’s efforts to promote healthier food environments.

The mission of BACR is: “We work in the heart of our communities to foster generational change.” The organization earned the Candid Platinum Seal of Transparency.
