About
The Brain Highways Family Program is an online, entertaining Family Program that guides parents and kids on how to change their brain and nervous system. Families spend 30 (or 20) minutes daily doing lower brain movements while learning about the nervous system, plus another 10 minutes daily to review parent-only support materials. Each week includes engaging videos, audio clips, infographics, and activities that support becoming a “connection-mode family” as parents and kids change their nervous system and brain at home.
• Ages: 3–18 years old
• Schedule: Upcoming Family Program Part 1 runs March 20, 2026–June 6, 2026, with just parents participating during the first two weeks and kids joining on April 5; families decide when they do the program each day, except for four live, whole-class video sessions, and Part 1 spans 11 weeks while Part 2 spans nine weeks
• Price: $345 - Base Family Program (Self-Guided); $695 - Base Family Program (with Basic Support); $945 - Base Family Program (with Premium Support); each Family Program course costs $695 and covers two parents and one child
Brain Highways Global is described as an international educational program that helps others change their brain and nervous system, with a passion and commitment to help others that has remained the same, and the Family Program guides parents and kids on how to change their brain and nervous system to yield remarkable, lasting results. Participants are kids ages 3–18 struggling with anxiety, focus, learning, speech, emotional regulation, sensory processing, socializing, and other challenges, with at least one parent who changes their own brain alongside their child. The program is structured in two courses: Part 1 (the Pons Course) and Part 2 (The Midbrain Course). Part 1 focuses on understanding how the nervous system works, integrating key primitive reflexes, developing the pons, enhancing vestibular and proprioceptive processing, resolving “false alarms” in real time, and replenishing the nervous system. Part 2 focuses on developing the midbrain, enhancing visual and auditory processing, learning more ways to repair the nervous system’s landscape, and disabling unhelpful “stories” that keep participants in protection mode. Families can choose between the Base Family Program (Self-Guided), Base Family Program (with Basic Support), and Base Family Program (with Premium Support). Program administrators and assistants provide behind-the-scenes support such as sending course materials, providing technical support, and doing class recordkeeping so facilitators can focus on individualizing and offering support.
Brain Highways Global began as a pilot program at Paul Ecke Elementary School in 1999 with a grant from Wells Fargo Bank. In 2004, Nancy Sokol Green left the public schools to open the Brain Highways Center in Encinitas, California. In 2009, Brain Highways launched its first online program, and in 2020, the Brain Highways Center was closed permanently and the organization focused solely on online programs. Brain Highways Global is an international educational program with participants from every continent except Antarctica. The San Diego Business Roundtable of Education awarded Brain Highways its Best Practice Award.
The Brain Highways Family Program leadership team includes Nancy Sokol Green, Creator and Executive Director of Brain Highways Global, and Kiley Wheel, Program Director and Course Facilitator. Kiley Wheel has a degree in physiology. Nancy Sokol Green has experience as a classroom teacher of students with diverse needs, an author of programs for major educational publishers, a consultant to school districts in California, New York, and Texas, a presenter at national education conferences, and a guest lecturer at San Diego State University, San Jose State University, and the University of California at Santa Barbara. She has also been the keynote speaker at the San Diego Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics conference and a TEDx presenter at the University of San Diego.
Parents and professionals have shared specific feedback about the Brain Highways program. Dr. Diane Bedrosian states, “The Brain Highways program has earned the respect of both parents and professionals. Its noninvasive approach often helps children move forward in ways that were not previously possible.” One parent shares, “As a parent, it's heartbreaking when your child really can't look at you. So to be able to chat with her now—while she keeps looking right at me . . . is a father's dream come true.” Braxton’s mom reports, “Braxton can now sit at the dinner table without getting up. He's sleeping better. He's no longer defiant. He has much better balance and coordination. His teacher reports better transitions, increase in focus, decrease in fears, increased ability to self-regulate, more talkative, more inquisitive, and ability to follow multi-step directions,” and also says, “I'm overall calmer. I feel more grounded. I also feel less depressed, less anxious, and less angry.” CJ’s mom shares, “During CJ's prayers at bedtime, he thanked God for Brain Highways . . . where he then went to sleep. IN HIS OWN BED. By himself.” Sully’s mom notes, “On Saturday night, Sully sat and watched a whole movie, on the couch, without getting up, with our whole family. This is a first for us!!!” Thomas’s mom says, “He started school this year without tears. He gets up in the morning (without whining or crying). Yesterday and today, he initiated doing his homework and didn't want to stop! I am so grateful because this new behavior is the complete opposite of what we had just about every day last year!”
