Solana Center for Environmental Innovation Programs include environmental education, events and workshops, volunteer opportunities, and community outreach booths throughout San Diego County. The programs also include beautification projects at Solana Center headquarters, consultations, lunch and learn presentations, and science-based school programs that focus on soil, water, and waste. The organization operates a Climate Solutions Hub and a Sustainability Shop called Plastic Beach as part of its programming.
• Schedule: Staff office hours Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM, with Climate Solutions Hub and Sustainability Shop/Plastic Beach open Thursday and Friday, 12:00 PM–4:00 PM
Solana Center for Environmental Innovation is a non-profit founded in 1983. Its mission is to empower innovative solutions to climate change through education, community engagement, and research. It is described as an award-winning environmental non-profit and a 20-person organization that is woman-led, with staff who self-identify as disabled, BIPOC, LGBTQ, and bilingual, and it is an Equal Opportunity employer. Solana Center offers community outreach booths throughout San Diego County and works with individuals and families, businesses, governments, and schools in the San Diego region and beyond. One course participant stated, “Thank you for the wonderful contribution to the sustainability efforts of our community. I learned some valuable info/skills and met some wonderful people in the process.”
