About

Camp Mariastella is a not-for-profit program that is chartered by the Sisters of Social Service. The program reflects the values of the Sisters in the spirit and program of camp, and it focuses on youth groups coming together in a cooperative environment. At Camp Mariastella, children and young adults spend time living together, listening, sharing, praying, and growing in a scenic environment, with an emphasis on fun, friendship, and exploring their own values and dreams.

• Schedule: Youth groups from all over Southern California visit for time to “be still and pause a while” in a scenic environment.

The Sisters of Social Service had been involved in youth camping since the 1930s and founded Mariastella in 1941. The camp’s philosophy is that it should serve children and young adults from all walks of life and be a place to recognize commonalities and learn from each other in a cooperative setting. Camp Mariastella is described as a place to be and make a friend. A traditional camp song includes the lines, “Each Trail that winds among the pines will always be in our memory. When evening campfires cease burning bright, When each last ember fades from sight, We go to rest and know that God Is watching Mariastella tonight.”
