About

Gloriana Musical Theatre Youth Programs offers activities in dance, theater, and musical theatre. Young performers take part in Rock 'n' Roll revues, A Cappella performances, magic shows, and other young performer productions. Tickets for events are available at Gloriana Studios (#183 in the Boatyard!).

Gloriana Musical Theatre was originally founded as The Gloriana Opera Company in 1976, with Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Mikado as its first production in 1977 at Crown Hall in Mendocino. Gloriana Musical Theatre is one of the oldest performing arts groups in Mendocino County. The organization states that young people are the backbone of the company and are part of decision-making and magic-making, and that building young people’s skills on stage and behind the scenes is at the core of what they do. The mission of Gloriana Musical Theatre is to produce high-quality entertainment that engages, inspires, and transforms, and to use theater to provide cultural enrichment, creative development, and opportunities for self-discovery while cultivating the creative energy of youth, celebrating diversity, and honoring heritage. Publicity for the organization is handled by Amanda Morrissey. The group notes that its production of The Magic Treehouse: Pirates Past Noon depended on support from the community, and that it is working with MTC on a revival of Woody Guthrie’s American Song, with proceeds from the August 22 performance going to Gloriana.
