After School Hoops focuses on basketball fundamentals through organized drills and games that incorporate dribbling, shooting, passing, rebounding, and defense. Each class begins with a warmup and then divides into stations to work on specific basketball skills. Every class ends with a 30-minute scrimmage so participants can immediately use the skills practiced during the session.
• Ages: 7–13 years old
• Schedule: Spring Session runs April 24–June 11, 2026, in an 8-class session on Thursdays with separate class times for ages 9–10 and 11–13
• Price: Ages 9–10 6:00–7:30 p.m. ($295/$305 non-resident); Ages 11–13 7:30–9:00 p.m. ($295/$305 non-resident)
After School Hoops is Foster City's youth basketball program for boys and girls ages 7–13 and operates in partnership with Foster City Parks & Recreation. If the class has already started and space is still available, registration must be completed by calling the Foster City Parks & Recreation office at (650) 286-3380.
After School Hoops was founded in 2017 by Joe Kaiser to provide basketball drills and instruction to Foster City’s youth. Joe Kaiser is also a Fantasy Sports Editor for ESPN. The leadership and coaching team includes founder Joe Kaiser and coaches Barry Delfin, Julian Delfin, Eddie Zamora, and Benjamin Delfin. Barry Delfin is an active member of the Foster City youth sports community and has coached his sons in Foster City Little League and Bowditch Middle School basketball. Julian Delfin is a freshman at West Valley College, previously a shortstop at San Mateo High, and played basketball at Bowditch Middle School with Barry as an assistant coach. Eddie Zamora made his coaching debut in fall 2023 after aging out of After School Hoops as a player and is a freshman at Serra High School. Benjamin Delfin is a sophomore at San Mateo High School and has been coaching basketball for over a year after playing in the program for several sessions, and he is a former Foster City Little League baseball District player.
Parents have shared that their children have learned fundamental basketball skills through drills from shooting to defense and have noted their children’s progression and accomplishments in the game. One parent reported that techniques learned in After School Hoops helped their child make the middle school team. Other parents described their children starting with little or no basketball experience and later showing improvement in skill level, confidence, determination, and enjoyment of the program.
