About
King's Land Chess Education Center offers Weekly Group Classes, Small Group Lessons, Private Lessons, Online Classes, and a Weekly Class focused on chess. The program also includes the GATE Program (formerly KLC Team USA Class), Intensive Training Camps, Chess Camp, and the KLC 2026 Chess Summer Camp – "Think, Move, Improve." Students can Play USCF Tournament and take part in USCF-Rated Tournaments through the program.

King's Land Chess Education Center was founded in 2012 and has been empowering young minds through the art of chess since 2012, training thousands of young players over the past 11 years. The program’s mission is to help children develop resilience, confidence, discipline, and the courage to face challenges through the game of chess, and to nurture young people who continue growing, learning, and pushing beyond their limits both on and off the chessboard. The mission also includes the statements “King’s Land Chess – Empowering young minds through the art of chess since 2012” and “Chess for World, Wisdom for Life.”
WFM Coach Kiki Chen is the founder of King’s Land Chess Education Center, serves as KLC Principal and Head Coach, and is a National Champion Coach with a FIDE rating of 2140. She is a World Chess Federation certified FIDE Trainer and FIDE coach seminar instructor, was the captain of the China youth national team, and holds a USCF National Coach qualification. She received an education contribution award from the Walnut Valley Unified School District in California in September 2015.
King's Land Chess Education Center is a FIDE Gold Award Chess School and won the 2025 FIDE Gold School Award, which represents the highest level of certification granted by FIDE to leading chess education institutions worldwide, jointly evaluated by the FIDE Trainers’ Commission (TRG) and the FIDE Education Commission (EDU). KLC offers a comprehensive, systematic, structured 10-level curriculum spanning from New Beginner to Grandmaster Level that aims to deliver private-lesson quality in group settings. The program features professional, expert-led training by National Masters, FIDE Trainers, and international champions, and includes comprehensive programs for all ages and levels, with both online and in-person offerings. KLC emphasizes a focus on building critical thinking, resilience, real-world problem-solving, character development through chess (discipline, patience, focus, resilience), leadership and holistic growth opportunities, efficient learning through high-impact teaching strategies, and a strong team spirit and community-focused learning environment.
KLC students have achieved a World Bronze Medal, Pan-American Champion titles, North American Champion titles, National Champion titles, and FIDE titles including FM, WFM, NM, WCM, and CM. Many students have been ranked No. 1 or No. 2 in their age groups on US Chess Federation Top Player Lists. KLC students have represented Team USA at the World Cadets Chess Championship and won the World Bronze Medal, with over 20 students qualifying for Team USA at the World Youth/Cadets Championship and 3 selected as official representatives, and many students becoming members of the All-America Chess Team.
