Music for Minors II

Music for Minors II offers music enrichment programs in pre-school through elementary schools. Children take weekly 30-minute lessons during the school year that include singing, rhythmic movement and dance, instrumentation, and listening appreciation, and trained volunteer docents teach in schools. The program also offers performance opportunities at school sites and on professional stages in the community.

About the provider

Music for Minors II has operated since 1988. It is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization approved by the FUSD school district. The program recruits and trains community volunteers to serve as music docents in schools and works in partnership with classroom teachers. Its mission is to nurture the love and literacy of music in children's classrooms and lives by trained Community Volunteers.

Volunteers must take an annual fall training class taught in Fremont. Each trained docent commits to teaching a one-half-hour music lesson weekly during the school year.
