About
Field Trip Programs offers standards-based school tours that support NGSS and Common Core, with options for docent-guided or self-guided school tours. The self-guided school tour includes a guided walk to explore examples of Jack London’s agricultural innovations. The program also includes Nature’s Design, a multiple-visit ecology program for 7th grade based on the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), and Adventures in Writing with Jack London, which is designed around the Common Core standards for language arts and literacy for elementary schools.
• Schedule: Nature’s Design is a multiple-visit ecology program for 7th grade
Tour leaders for Field Trip Programs are a knowledgeable team of trained docents. The education department provides learning experiences for visiting schools, homeschools, and camp groups, and tour leaders share stories about the life and adventures of Jack and Charmian London and their Beauty Ranch. Jack London Park Partners, which emerged during a budgetary crisis in 2012, operates and maintains the land and historic structures of the park and depends on the generosity of individual donors and foundation and corporate grantors in providing programming. Its mission is to rigorously protect the historic and natural character of the park while creating inclusive opportunities for education, recreation, discovery, and joy, leaving future generations a park that would make Jack London proud. Among the organization’s accomplishments are the award-winning restoration of the cottage Jack and Charmian London lived in after acquiring “Beauty Ranch” and the completely re-imagined House of Happy Walls Museum.
