Classes are available in 2-hour, 3-hour, and 4-hour formats, with ages 8–11 limited to 2-hour classes and ages 12 and older able to attend 2- or 3-hour classes, except for the 4-hour Advanced Studies class.
• Ages: 6–18 years old
• Schedule: Class options Monday through Saturday, including weekday afternoon and evening classes and Saturday late-morning classes, with 2-hour and 3-hour sessions available on different days
• Price: Monthly tuition generally ranges from $200 to $275 per class, with sibling discounts, discounts for a second weekly class, and specific monthly rates tied to each day and time
The Babajanyan Art Academy was founded in 2015 by professional artist Alexander Babajanyan. The leadership team includes Alexander Babajanyan as founder and professional artist, and Mrs. Anna as the sculpting class instructor. The academy states a mission to provide high quality arts education, inspire students to have a passion for creative expression, and equip them with knowledge and skills for an extensive range of artistic careers.
The academy provides most supplies for students, while brushes, sketchbooks, and specialty items must be purchased by the student or parent. Students are expected to become proficient in practice, theory, history, and critique, to enhance their drawing and painting abilities, to master the proper use of tools, and to understand the chemistry of their materials. Instruction includes study of artistic theory such as aesthetics of art and design, color theory, and composition, as well as the history of art and how it has been used to change the world and is used in everyday life. Through art, students study principles in math, anatomy, biology, chemistry, and history, and they are expected to practice outside of class and maintain many sketchbooks.
The academy has a strict no cell phone rule in which student phones are taken away and kept inaccessible until close to dismissal; if a parent needs to reach a child, they can contact the school, and if a child needs to reach a parent, the academy provides a phone. Policies include that tuition is due on the first of the month and considered late after the 5th, there are no refunds, tuition is due regardless of how many classes a student attends, and half tuition must be paid each month to hold a place if a student is out for more than a month. Continuous late tuition payments, continuous missed classes, and consistent late pickup can result in termination or expulsion, and missed classes must be made up within the following month. Space is described as very limited, and the academy uses the slogan “Art is Life!”.
