Opus Music School offers private piano, guitar, singing, drum, bass, violin, viola, cello, ukulele, and songwriting lessons, with options for both in-person instruction and online lessons on Zoom. Students participate in professional music recitals, Opus Summer Tour recitals, and have performance opportunities at venues such as Carnegie Hall and Thayer Concert Hall at the Colburn School.

Opus Music School was founded in 2014 by Theresa Cheng, who left her job as a CPA at a Big 4 accounting firm in Downtown Los Angeles to start the school, and it moved to a professional commercial facility on Gale Avenue in 2015. The school states that its mission is to provide high quality and affordable private music lessons to beginner, intermediate, and advanced students. Numerous music teachers at Opus Music School have either a college degree in music or professional performance experience, have experience teaching kids and adults, and complete background checks prior to being hired. The school has been described as the largest music school in Hacienda Heights, CA and was one of nine music schools in the United States nominated for the 2020 National Music School of the Year. The founder grew up in Hacienda Heights, attended Los Altos Elementary School, Newton Middle School, and Los Altos High School, notes that many students come from these same schools, and has publicly thanked the community for supporting her in this journey. The program includes a complete music learning experience with comprehensive music, theory, and aural curriculum, individually tailored lessons, and a focus on having fun in music lessons using practice challenges, games, and iPad apps. Students take part in professional music recitals on concert stages twice a year, each with a theme such as Disney, movies, pop music, classical music, Christmas music, or classic rock, and a professional photographer is present at every recital. Opus Music School also features Opus the Octopus as its school mascot, including a stuffed animal version at the front desk, and has professional, friendly office staff who handle scheduling and billing.
