About
Ballet Folklórico México Danza is a non-profit dance company that focuses on folkloric dance. The program is influenced by the work of Amalia Hernandez, known as the “Queen of Mexican Folklore.” The program serves as a safe space for children to develop a love of dance and learn about their heritage, and it has grown to include individuals of all ages and nationalities from diverse Bay Area communities.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Class options Monday–Saturday during afternoon and evening hours
Ballet Folklórico México Danza has been a proud member of the Bay Area community since 1991. It was founded by René González, with collaboration from Martín Romero of Mexico City. González and Romero each have over 30 years of dance experience at national and international levels. The non-profit dance company is dedicated to presenting the cultural heritage of Mexico through folkloric dance and to helping students of all ages develop as artists in a unique, disciplined, and cultural environment. In 1995, Ballet Folklórico México Danza received a Presidential Proclamation from President William J. Clinton. Parents and dancers have shared positive experiences, including memories of dancing in the small studio and appreciation for Martín’s detailed instruction and feedback.
