About

RimoVision Summer Acting Camp includes acting, storytelling, movement, performance skills, creative play, and script work, with a focus on teamwork. Camp days feature name games and introductions, ensemble games such as counting, storytelling, and group creativity, as well as movement and voice warmups. Students take part in audition preparation, including how to slate for an audition and understanding headshots, resumes, and sides, and each session ends with a short final showcase for families.

• Ages: 4–18 years old
• Schedule: Four-week sessions meeting Tuesday–Thursday for 2 hours per day, with 12 classes per session
• Price: $675 For Hermosa Beach Residents; $685 For Non-Residents.

The curriculum includes open scenes using neutral scripts, vocal projection and articulation, an introduction to stage positions and simple choreography, imagination exercises, animal movement and physical acting, and improvisation games. Students use character worksheets that address physical, emotional, and historical traits, and they participate in partner scene work, scene rehearsals with coaching, and blocking, movement, and storytelling. Classes also cover backstage etiquette and technical run-throughs, and the final showcase is free for up to 4 family members.

RimoVision Group, founded in 2023, administers the program in collaboration with the City of Hermosa Beach Community Center, and registration and payment are processed through the City of Hermosa Beach. Each class is limited to a maximum of 15 students. After registration and payment with the City, families must complete, sign, and email the RimoVision Acting Camp Agreement to [email protected] before the start of camp for the child to participate.

The lead instructor is theatre artist and educator Simon Asher, who has taught performance skills to students ages 4–18, including students with special needs, and who holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre with an emphasis in Acting from California State University, Fullerton. From 2021 to 2023, he served as an Education Intern for a theatre summer camp and then as an Education Artist from 2024 to 2025, leading theatre games, acting exercises, and creative learning activities for young performers. Instructor’s Assistant Dayna Li is an actor, director, musician, and teaching artist with an MFA in Film Directing from Chapman University, who has directed 10 short films featured in over 60 film festivals, including the Austin Film Festival and Big Apple Film Festival, and whose training includes Schreiber Studio, the Powerhouse Theater Apprentice Company, and the Sanford Meisner Center.

RimoVision Group is an independent, nonprofit theatre company and public charity that brings original, thought-provoking comedy to life, with the mission statement “Creative Theatre for All! And by all, we mean everyone — every audience, every artist, every voice.” RimoVision Group produces original shows written by resident playwrights, with scripts often developed just months before rehearsals, and uses a fully collaborative process in which actors, directors, and crew work together to shape each production.
