• Ages: 4–18 years old
For 60 years, AYSO has given kids the opportunity to be introduced to soccer. AYSO Region 55 follows AYSO’s stated vision to provide world class youth soccer programs that enrich children’s lives and its mission to develop and deliver quality youth soccer programs which promote a fun, family environment based on AYSO’s Six Philosophies. These Six Philosophies are listed as Everyone Plays, Balanced Teams, Positive Coaching, Open Registration, Good Sportsmanship, and Player Development. The program notes that all experience levels are welcome and that every child is guaranteed playing time, and its programs run from 6U to 19U (up to 18 years old).
AYSO Region 55 states that it serves Huntington Beach and surrounding cities and that AYSO regions are community-run soccer programs, essentially local soccer clubs. Each region is run by a volunteer Regional Commissioner and a volunteer Regional Board, and regions are responsible for recruiting volunteers to coach and referee, running practices and games, finding and allocating field space, facilitating registration, managing finances, and parent communication.
The listed leadership team for AYSO Region 55 includes Regional Commissioner Jason McEwen, Asst. Regional Commissioner Jake Hudson, Registrar Laura Power, Child/Volunteer Protection Advocate Jake Hudson, Coach Administrator Justin Betance, Asst. Coach Administrator Allissa Blystone, Referee Administrator Jose Meza, Secretary Havah Felker, Scheduler Pamela McEwen, Safety Director Mark DiLauro, Treasurer Erin Barrager, Team Parent Coordinator Keri Scroggins, EXTRA Coordinator Mary Ward, Fields Coordinator Brian Meehan, Fields Coordinator Paul Kirby, and Social Media/Communications lead Eva Lempert.
The program description notes that AYSO was the first organization to give female athletes an equal opportunity in sports, predating Title IX. It also states that AYSO Region 55 in Huntington Beach provides youth soccer for ages 4–18, focusing on fun, skill-building, and sportsmanship in a positive environment centered on skill development, teamwork, and good sportsmanship. AYSO is also described as having a partnership with BEEUP, a honey-based fruit snack brand co-founded by David Beckham, as the Official Fruit Snack Partner for the 2025–2026 season.
