Pa-Kua Huntington Beach has been teaching Pa-Kua since 2003, with construction of the studio beginning on May 1, 2003, and its Grand Opening on April 1, 2003. In the summer of 2008, Pa-Kua Huntington Beach moved to a new location directly across the street from the first studio, which offered two training mats, a café, a changing area, and a large office, allowing two different classes each hour and class sizes of about 2 to 10 students per class. From the beginning, Master Elizabeth Filleti and Master Jason Landau set a goal of working with the community to help both young and old reach their personal goals and to provide a positive family environment for learning Pa-Kua.
The leadership team includes Master Elizabeth Filleti, Master Jason Landau, and Master Nicolas Moyano, who serves as an Itinerant Master and Entitled Superior Master of Pa-Kua, which is Pa-Kua’s highest rank in the world. Master Elizabeth Filleti is currently the highest ranking female Black Belt in Pa-Kua and the 7th highest overall in the world, has been practicing Pa-Kua since 1987, and has owned three different Pa-Kua studios in two different countries. Master Jason Landau has been practicing martial arts since the age of 8. Pa-Kua Huntington Beach has the honor of learning from Itinerant Pa-Kua Masters who visit from all over the world, and currently has Master Nicolas Moyano in that role.
Pa-Kua Huntington Beach is a committed member of the Pa-Kua International League, and all Masters and Instructors are internationally certified by this organization. It is described as one of the highest and most reviewed studios in Orange County, California. Master Elizabeth Filleti holds three different Presidential Fitness Awards and has been featured in the Huntington Beach Independent twice, as well as on TV, radio, and the H.B. Magazine. Master Jason Landau has received the Presidential Fitness Award from both President Bush and President Obama and has given international and national exhibitions of Pa-Kua, including a sword cutting demonstration in “Aulas Abiertas” in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2006 and an acrobatics demonstration at “The Pa-Kua National Gathering” in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2009.
Pa-Kua Huntington Beach participates in many community events each year, including the HB July 4th Parade, the L.A. Chinese New Year Parade, Senior Saturday at the H.B. Pier, and the Pa-Kua National Gathering. The studio has supported charities and events such as the American Heart Association, MS Walk, Soles 4 Souls, Teens for Jeans, and Rodgers Senior Center. The program describes its approach as “An Ancient Knowledge for Modern Times” and states that it offers many different classes and courses for all ages and abilities in a fun family training environment.
