The Boys & Girls Clubs of South County mission statement says it is dedicated to providing a safe and harmonious environment for youth of all backgrounds and to help them develop qualities needed to become responsible citizens and leaders. The organization operates as BGCS and is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. The program includes a licensed child-care program called Small Wonders Pre-School for youth ages 2.5 to 6 years old, day camp programs with specialized camps in the summer, fall, winter, and spring for ages 5–17, and a STEM Center of Innovation that is described as one of the few in Chula Vista. Before & After School SBUSD Extended Learning is described as a free program located at all 12 schools in the Southbay Union School District. A Military Youth Outreach partnership supports military youth ages 6 to 18 who are coping with a deployed parent or parents, and eligible children receive free membership. Chula Vista offers one of the few STEM Centers of Innovation in Chula Vista sponsored by Raytheon and in partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America. The program notes that Southbay Union School District schools participate in athletics. Staff include trained, certified, and skilled bus and van drivers.
