The Academy for Early Learning has been in business for over 45 years and was previously named Strawberry Hill Preschool. The Academy for Early Learning, Inc. was incorporated in 1990, and the preschool was licensed by the Department of Social Services in 1990 to serve children two through five. The Infant/Toddler Program was developed in 2002 and serves children 2 months through 2 years.
The program’s mission states that it is dedicated to consistently providing quality child care through enriching developmental and academic experiences for children ages 2 months through 5 years old. The mission also states a commitment to creating a sound foundation for inner city multilingual, multicultural children by building positive and trusting relationships with parents and other caregivers, and by focusing on each child as an individual with teamwork between parents and teachers. The Center’s philosophy is described as relationship-based care, with strong attachments built through primary care and small groups, and an emphasis on establishing relationships first so young children become healthy, emotionally secure individuals.
