Motherland Music Classes & Educational Programs

Motherland Music Classes & Educational Programs offers a range of African drum and music activities, including Senegalese Djembe and DjunDjun, Malinke Singing Class, Kids Class All Ages, Ballet Style DjunDjun Class, Drum with Malik, and Beginning Drumming with Pashyo. The program also includes a Free Drum Circle, African drum instruction, African drum performance, and live performances, along with drum repair and African drum sales. Educational field trips for schools (K–12) and hands-on cultural learning through music, history, and movement are part of the program, as well as cultural festivals, classes, concerts, and special events such as Mandingo Night.

Motherland Music Classes & Educational Programs has been providing services in the Los Angeles community since 1992. Its mission since 1992 has been to preserve, share, and celebrate African drumming and culture while fostering connection, healing, and community through sound. The program specializes in African drums and world percussion for sales, performance, repair, and supplies, supported by a full service drum repair workshop and a unique showroom-class space. The staff includes highly skilled teachers and performers, and the organization describes its staff as friendly and knowledgeable. Motherland Music notes that it has proudly served the Los Angeles community by providing authentic African cultural experiences rooted in rhythm, education, and tradition.
