About
Camp Izza is a summer camp program that runs in one-week, full-day sessions. The camp name was chosen because “Izza” means pride in Arabic.
• Ages: 5–12 years old
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–3:00 PM, offered in one-week, full-day sessions from June 22 to July 31, 2026
• Price: Early Bird: $399/week (before April 15); Regular: $499/week (after April 14)
Since 2008, Camp Izza has provided a summer camp experience for children in Orange County. The camp’s mission states that it strives to provide a fun and safe environment for children to learn, grow, and make new friends, and to create an inclusive and welcoming children’s camp for all. The mission also states that the camp strives to provide an environment where all children can come as they are and thrive.
Camp Izza has been accredited by the American Camp Association for over a decade. The leadership team includes Camp Director Jonna Powell and Executive Director Dr. Omar Ezzeldine. The program states that staff members are carefully selected for their experience, skills, and passion for working with children, and that all staff members are trained in first aid and CPR. Jonna holds a degree in Child Development from Fullerton College and a degree in Psychology from Grand Canyon University, has over 20 years of experience as a former Camp Director at Fairmont Summer Programs and the Ziggurat Summer Camp, and joined Camp Izza in 2018. Omar has over 25 years of education experience working as a teacher, principal, and administrator, and believes summer camp is the best time for children to grow and connect with others beyond the classroom.
The program states that it chose the name Izza because it means pride in Arabic, and that every year during camp it strives to instill pride in three ways: pride in the quality of the camp, pride in training the next generation of young leaders, and pride in its campers to feel comfortable and confident in who they are.
