Pre-College Programs offers academically enriching courses, hands-on workshops, and test prep courses, along with tutoring that includes personalized support and engaging lessons. Students can take part in career pathway programs, conduct research alongside graduate students, assume the role of researchers on projects that have real-world applications, and explore fields like space exploration, marine biology, and computer science. High school students have access to specific courses such as Advanced Digital Design, Advanced Machine Learning, Android Programming, AutoCAD, Business Management, Digital Circuit Design, Front End Web Development, iOS Programming, Machine Learning, Marketing, Revit, Robotics with JavaScript, Translation and Interpretation, and Wireless Communications Technologist, as well as the option to earn transferable college credits through 100% online undergraduate courses.

Pre-College Programs and Certificates are offered in Live Online, In-Person, Online, and Hybrid classroom types. Discover UC San Diego offers high school students the opportunity to earn transferable college credits through 100% online undergraduate courses. UC San Diego Extended Studies partnerships give students chances to gain technical know-how and problem-solving skills through a creative and hands-on approach. Research Scholars offers educational experiences in which students assume the role of researchers on projects with real-world applications, and Sally Ride Science Academy offers hands-on workshops led by inspiring instructors. The Foundations for Future Scholars tutoring program serves TK–12 students with academic foundations, critical thinking skills, and support for a lifelong interest in learning.

Extended Studies states that it strives to empower students to thrive and excel in academics and beyond. Sally Ride Science at UC San Diego Division of Extended Studies is celebrating a 25th anniversary in 2026. The program is supported by highly experienced International Student Services Staff, with leadership that includes Stacy Warneke, International Student Services Director, and Patricia Juza, Associate Dean | Executive Director. UC San Diego's OSHA Training Institute Education Center has led in occupational safety and health education for nearly five decades.
