About
Settles Tennis Camps offers the NIKE Tournament Training Tennis Camp and the College Tennis Prospect Camp at CMS. The program focuses on tennis through coaching, camps, and events, including work with professional, collegiate, and junior tennis players. The staff has over twenty-five years of experience working with players at these levels and experience with the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP World Tour).

Paul and Kathy Settles lead Settles Tennis Camps and began coaching at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges in 2004. Kathy is a PTR certified professional, and Paul is a USPTA P1 certified teaching professional and a graduate of the USTA High Performance Coaching program. Their coaching at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges includes national prominence and NCAA Division III national titles, with the CMS men’s program winning an NCAA DIII National Men’s Title in 2015 and the CMS women’s program winning NCAA DIII National Women’s Titles in 2018 and 2022. Their stated mission is: “We love tennis and hope you will join us as we look to grow this great sport at the grassroots, recreational and competitive levels.”
Kathy and Paul have collectively won over 70 USTA National Championships, including eighteen together, and have earned USTA year-end #1 rankings in three different divisions. Kathy was named the 2019 Sun/Bulletin Girls Tennis Coach of the Year after the CHS Girls Team reached the final of the Division II CIF Team Championships, and in 2021 her Boys Team won the Division I CIF Team Championship Title. Kathy is currently ranked #2 in singles in the ITF World Rankings. Listed USTA national titles from 2022 through 2025 include multiple women’s 50s and 55s singles and doubles grass, clay, and hard court championships, as well as numerous family titles such as National Mother Son, Father Son, Husband Wife, Mixed 50s, Senior Father Son, and related indoor, outdoor, grass, clay, and hard court championships with partners including Christian Settles, Caleb Settles, Ross Hessler, Neel Grover, Jenny Keller, and Anne Frautschi.
In August 2023, Paul and Kathy both represented Team USA at the ITF Masters World Team Championships in Lisbon, Portugal, where both teams won a bronze medal. Kathy also captained the 2025 Women’s 55’s USA Team at Worlds in Lisbon.
