Ladera Ranch Little League offers Little League Baseball through multiple divisions that range from non-competitive, instructional play to tournament-level competition. The program includes Tee Ball, Coach Pitch, Rookie, Single A, Double A, Triple A, Majors, Intermediate 50/70, Juniors, Seniors, Big League, and a Challenger Division for players with special needs.
• Ages: 4–18 years old
Founded in 2003 in south Orange County as a part of District 68, Ladera Ranch Little League operates as a non-profit charitable organization. It is chartered under the umbrella of Little League International, Inc. and is part of Little League District 68 of Southern California. The league brings Little League Baseball, described as “America's Pastime,” to over 1,000 children each year.
The mission of Ladera Ranch Little League is to provide a safe, instructional and fun environment for the children of Ladera Ranch, California, ages 4–18, and to “promote, develop, supervise, and voluntarily assist in all lawful ways, the interest of those who will participate in Little League Baseball.” The league operates as an all-volunteer program and relies on the support of a network of families, local businesses, corporate sponsors, and community sponsors.
The Challenger Division is a special needs division for players of all ages, and players outside Ladera Ranch are welcome to register for this division. Tee Ball is for league age 4 and 5 and is non-competitive instructional baseball where score and standings are not kept and there are no playoffs. Coach Pitch is for league age 6 and is also non-competitive instructional baseball with no score, standings, or playoffs. The Rookie Division is for league age 7 and is instructional baseball where score and standings are not kept and there are no playoffs.
Single A is for league age 7–8 and offers instructional baseball with de-emphasized winning and losing. Double A is for league age 8–10, and its rules conform to the 2014 “Official Regulation and Playing Rules” for Minor League Baseball with Ladera Ranch Little League local rules modifications. Triple A is for league age 9–11, follows the same 2014 Minor League rules with local modifications, and the top two teams move on to the District 68 Tournament of Champions, with All Star teams selected for the All Stars Tournament. Majors is for league age 10–12, also follows the 2014 Minor League rules with local modifications, and the top two teams move on to the District 68 Tournament of Champions, with All Star teams selected for the All Stars Tournament.
The Intermediate 50/70 Division is for league age 12–13, serves as a supplement to Majors or Juniors, uses the same playing rules as Juniors, and has an All-Star team selected for the Intermediate All Star Tournament that is separate from Junior All-Stars. The Juniors Division is for league age 12–14, with playing rules determined based on the format and schedule proposed by District 68 and any rules addendum documented by the Board of Directors. The Seniors Division is for league age 15–16, and the Big League Division is for league age 17–18, with playing rules for both determined based on the format and schedule proposed by District 68 and any rules addendum documented by the Board of Directors.
