About
V&T Classical Ballet Academy offers ballet classes for children, adult classes, and pre-professional and professional classes. Students take classes in the classical Russian Vaganova ballet method and can attend master classes with leading professionals in both classical and contemporary dance. The program also includes participation in various dance competitions, annual performance productions, community outreach, and a Summer Intensive program.
• Ages: 3–18 years old
V&T Classical Ballet Academy is the official school of Victor and Tatiana Kasatsky, who are described as world-renowned ballet dancers and instructors. Resident teachers include industry-leading choreographers in classical ballet, character, contemporary, and other forms of dance, and the studio notes smaller class sizes that provide more individualized attention. The academy offers classes for all skill and commitment levels and describes its environment as warm and family-friendly.
The program highlights training in the world’s elite classical Russian Vaganova ballet method and master classes with leading professionals in classical and contemporary dance, including special guest instructors such as Tong Wang, Valody Malakhov, Irek Amedov, Ivan Vasiliev, Susan Jaffe, and Natalia Osipova. It is home to winners of numerous awards, including Spotlight Awards, Prix de Lausanne, three Youth American Grand Prix (YAGP) Outstanding School Awards, and four YAGP Outstanding Teacher Awards. Many alumni have gone on to professional companies such as Royal Swedish Ballet, Boston Ballet, Houston Ballet, and National Ballet of Canada, and the program reports that 97% of alumni are awarded scholarships to universities or colleges across the U.S. and in Europe in both the arts and sciences.
Through its performing arts branch, Golden State Dance Foundation (GSDF), the academy offers world class performance opportunities and community outreach. V&T Dance partners with the Artists and Directors of Ballet Project OC to provide a pathway from academy classes into the professional world of ballet, and notes that donations help grow the Orange County Ballet community and give the gift of dance to boys, girls, and children across Southern California.
Parent testimonials describe students improving thanks to the teaching of Victor, Tatiana, and other instructors, and mention a tight-knit community of young dancers who support one another through classes, intensives, performances, and competitions. Parents also note exposure to styles such as Hip Hop, Contemporary, Character, and stretch, as well as performances including a holiday Nutcracker and a spring show. Several parents mention driving long distances for training and describe Victor and Tatiana as warm and friendly and as former Moscow Ballet principal dancers who teach Russian classical ballet.
