Musical Theater Summer Camp
The Performer’s Academy, 23721 Birtcher Drive, Lake Forest, CA 92630
About
Musical Theater Summer Camp focuses on acting, singing, and dancing while campers work on scenes and songs from well-loved musicals. Campers take part in high-energy rehearsals that include character development and vocal training. Each camp week includes rehearsing an entire musical in just one week and ends with a final showcase performance.
• Ages: 6–17 years old
• Schedule: Weekly camps run Monday–Thursday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, for a total of 32 hours per week.
• Price: All sales are final—no refunds; if a child is unable to attend, payment is credited toward future camps at The Performer’s Academy.
Each camp week is part of Summer Camp 2026, which offers 10 different weeks, and each week features different material. Camps can accommodate between 20–30 students per week, with one performance per camp week. Auditions take place on the first Monday of camp, and parts are given out on the first day. Each week ends with a performance showcase for family and friends, and each week’s performance is professionally filmed, with HD photos taken and shared with families.
Campers are asked to bring a packed lunch for the daily lunch break from 12:00–1:00 PM, along with a water bottle, comfortable clothes they can move in, and closed-toe shoes (no flip-flops). Campers need to have appropriate dance shoes for rehearsals and for the Friday performance, and they are asked to wear all black under their costumes for the Friday show. Scripts and other materials are provided. On Fridays there is a pizza party at 2:00 PM, followed by hair and makeup, changing into costumes, and preparing for the big show, which begins at 5:00 PM, with doors opening to families at 4:45 PM.
Musical Theater Summer Camp is open to boys and girls ages 6–17, and no prior experience is required, but campers need to be fluent readers to attend. Camps are open to both current studio students and non-students. The program does not accept charter funds for camp at this time and only accepts charter funds for regular weekly classes.
Classes are taught by experienced professionals, including film directors, writers, producers, and working actors. All instructors hold Child Performer Services Permits (CPS) as required by the state of California, and the studio is a bonded facility. The Performer’s Academy has been in operation since 2003 and has been running for over 20 years. The leadership team for the program includes Directors Samantha Mirabal, Sofia Barrera, Harper O'Loughlin, Rani Shori, LouLou Adora, and Keira Wilkes.
The Performer’s Academy states that it is a family-owned and operated business dedicated to nurturing students' talents and fostering self-expression, with the motto “Dream, Believe, Become.” The program serves Orange County and has received the Parenting OC Readers’ Choice Award 2025 Winner: Best Theatre Class. Testimonials from parents describe children attending summer camps for several years, putting on shows in five days, making new friends, coming out of their shell during performances such as Hamilton and The Little Mermaid, and enjoying performing, dancing, and singing.
