DM Brazilian Jiu Jitsu & Family Martial Arts Center offers Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes for kids and adults. The program also includes BJJ seminars and arrest and control seminars taught by experienced instructors.

The academy states that it is a safe, clean, and friendly environment with personalized instruction and small class sizes. It offers instruction for adults and kids through Adult Programs, Kid Programs, and Women Programs, and a free trial class is available. The academy is proud to serve Lakewood, Downey, Cerritos, Long Beach and other nearby cities.
The leadership team includes Professor Dimitrios Mavraganis as Lead Academy Instructor, Professor Mark Frasher as Kids Class Lead Instructor, Professor Nea Vanda Ouk as Adult BJJ Class Instructor, and Professor Vu Nguyen as Adult & Kids Class Instructor. Coach Vu is a lead coach for the Adult Fundamentals/Spartan Kids on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Professor Dimitrios received his black belt from Jiu-Jitsu master Rigan Machado in early 2006 and holds the rank of 5th degree BJJ black belt. He has conducted BJJ seminars across the USA and Europe and has taught arrest and control seminars for the US Marshal’s, Orange County Sheriffs Department, FBI, and correctional officers at the federal prison of Terminal Island in Long Beach, CA. He has won multiple IBJJF Pan American Championships and SJJF World Championships, is a multiple-time California State and National Champion, and NABJJ Los Angeles International Tournament Champion in both his weight and the open class. He has also won many Gi and No-Gi tournaments, including Grapplers Quest Las Vegas and NAGA San Diego, and has appeared multiple times in Tapout and Grappling magazines to demonstrate Brazilian Jiu Jitsu techniques.
Professor Mark received his black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2014 and his first-degree black belt promotion from Professor Dimitrios in 2020. His competition results include multiple first-place finishes at Copa Pacifica (2006, 2007, 2009), first place at the South Bay Open 2006, first place at the California Pankration Championship 2007, and first place at the IBJJF Long Beach Fall Invitational 2014 (Master’s 2 Brown Open), along with several second- and third-place finishes at events such as the California Pankration Championship, Pankration Team Championships, South Bay Open, Best of the West, No Gi Worlds 2011 (Master’s 2 Purple Heavy), and NAGA Grappling Championships 2013.
Professor Nea earned his DMBJJ Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt in the first quarter of 2022, holds a Master’s degree of Business Administration in Aviation from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and has been an instructor at DMBJJ since late 2013. Coach Vu received his purple belt in 2018, his brown belt in 2022, and his black belt in 2024 from Professor Dimitrios.
The academy’s mission statement says it believes that everyone, regardless of age or fitness level, can benefit from the physical and mental challenges of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and it is committed to creating a positive and encouraging atmosphere where students can learn at their own pace and build confidence while mastering new techniques.
