Marin Highlanders Rugby Club

Marin Highlanders Rugby Club offers youth rugby for Under 8s, Under 10s, Under 12s, Under 14s/Middle School, and Boys High School. The program includes practices on Wednesdays and Sundays for Under 8s, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Sundays for Under 10s and Under 12s, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays for Under 14s/Middle School, and Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays for Boys High School.

Programs

• Under 8s — Must be under 8 years old on Sep 1st of the current year. · Wednesdays 4-5pm; Sundays 9AM-10AM
• Under 10s — Must be under 10 years old on Sep 1st of the current year. · Mondays and Wednesdays 4-6pm (or till dark); Sundays 9AM-11AM
• Under 12s — Must be under 12 years old on Sep 1st of the current year. · Mondays and Wednesdays 4-6pm (or till dark); Sundays 10AM-12PM
• Under 14s/Middle School — Must be under 14 years old on Sep 1st of the current year or in 6th, 7th or 8th grade. · Tuesdays and Thursdays 4-6pm; Sundays 11AM-1PM
• Boys High School — Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays 4-6pm; Sundays at Redwood High · Varsity and Junior Varsity.

• Ages: 5–18 years old
• General schedule: Youth Winter Season runs from November through March. Weekend matches are on Sat/Sun depending on field availability. In December weekday practices are at Vallecito Elementary, Terra Linda and weekend practices at Redwood High, Larkspur. Locations for Jan-March TBC.

About the provider

The club says it was founded in 1998 as Marin Highlanders after earlier rugby activity at Redwood High School beginning in 1980. It says the Marin Youth Rugby Club merged into the Highlanders program in 2008. The club says it exists to develop the sport of rugby in Marin County and to instill fairness, camaraderie, discipline, and service.

Who can play rugby? Anyone; no rugby experience is necessary. Registration takes two mandatory steps: register with the Marin Highlanders and also with NorCal/USA Rugby through Rugby Xplorer. The club says home matches will be at Redwood High School and away matches are generally within an hour of Marin County. It says there are no enough players to form a MS or HS Girls team this season.
