Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program – Tri-Valley Composite Squadron 156

The Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program – Tri-Valley Composite Squadron 156 includes activities such as leadership development, search and rescue, flight training, model rocketry, photography, astronomy, and radio communications. Cadets in this program can solo fly an airplane, travel abroad through the International Air Cadet Exchange Program, and assist at major air shows throughout the nation.

• Ages: 12–18 years old
• Schedule: Squadron meetings on Wednesdays at 6:30PM

The program uses aviation as a cornerstone of the cadet program and follows a multi-step structure that includes aerospace education, leadership training, physical fitness, and character development. Thousands of young people from 12 years through age 21 are introduced to aviation through Civil Air Patrol’s cadet program, and cadets can participate in special activities at the local, state, regional, and national levels. The squadron’s leadership team is headed by 1Lt. Michael Ward as Squadron Commander. Civil Air Patrol’s stated mission is “Volunteers serving America's communities, saving lives, and shaping futures,” and it is described as America’s Air Force auxiliary. Its community involvement includes supporting America’s communities with emergency response, diverse aviation and ground services, youth development, and promotion of air, space, and cyber power.
