About
Coco Kids STEM School offers hands-on activities, reading, writing practice, science lessons, and arts and crafts as part of its daily routine. The program includes STEM-based activities that encourage exploration, creativity, and critical thinking, along with indoor and outdoor physical activities. Children also use books written and illustrated by Ms. Ivy Chowdhury to read, color, and take home.
• Ages: 0–5 years old
Coco Kids STEM School is led by Ms. Ivy Chowdhury, who is the owner and primary caregiver. She holds a B.S.C degree, an Advanced Certificate in Early Childhood Education, is Infant Toddler Trained, and is CPR, First Aid, and Preventive Health and Safety Practice Certified. Her background includes experience with the Reggio Emilia approach.
The program operates as a family child care home with a family-oriented care program and a loving and supportive atmosphere. It offers a safe, nurturing, and secure environment described as a home-away-from-home, in a safe, clean, and child-friendly setting. The home is a place where children are encouraged to explore, play, and learn, with personalized attention and care, a sense of community and collaboration, and open communication and trust with families.
Coco Kids STEM School provides nutritious morning snacks, lunch, and afternoon snacks, with home cooked meals that focus on fresh, wholesome ingredients. Meals are planned to meet nutritional guidelines for children, and a monthly menu is provided, with changes communicated in advance. Weekly newsletters are sent to parents about classroom activities and meal plans, and biannual updates and thoughtful evaluations track each child’s development and progress.
Coco Kids STEM School is fully licensed by the California Department of Community Care Licensing Division, Human Services. It meets the state’s health, safety, and educational requirements for family child care homes and undergoes regular inspections to ensure compliance with state regulations, including health and safety standards, staff qualifications, and child-to-provider ratios. The program maintains a low student-to-teacher ratio and offers an inclusive environment that respects and celebrates diversity.
Testimonials from parents and community members describe Ivy and her assistants providing hands-on activities every day, including reading, writing practice, science lessons, and arts and crafts that strengthen fine motor skills. Families report healthy home cooked snacks and meals, weekly newsletters, and evaluations that show progress in children’s development. Several testimonials note Ivy’s many years of teaching experience, her skills in arts and crafts, and her ability to be warm as a mother and firm as a teacher, and one neighbor and multiple parents state that the school is a great asset to the community. An upcoming Family Day is scheduled for 8th December 2024 from 1pm–3pm.
