Aikido of Livermore - Shinrei Dojo is a traditional martial arts dojo offering instruction in the Japanese art of Aikido and was established in 1989 as the oldest Aikido dojo in the Tri-Valley area. The chief instructor is Jim Alvarez Shihan, supported by assistant instructors. The chief instructor and assistant instructors are described as dedicated to providing the very best instruction and giving personal attention to each student, with experienced, safe, and serious instruction for men and women at all ages and levels. The dojo states that it is serious about practical defense and that its training is focused on cultivating mindfulness, composure, and calmness through martial arts training and using those lessons to create positive outcomes for everyday conflicts at home, at work, and in society. The dojo states that it strives to create an environment where each member is recognized based on personal growth, effort, and contribution, and to foster a community that is inclusive and reflective of a diverse society, welcoming all races, colors, genders, identities, religions, nationalities, experience levels, and ages. The dojo states that each member’s voice will be heard, that members will be safe, offered respect, and promoted fairly and impartially, and that members will be given the opportunity to learn and grow. Aikido of Livermore - Shinrei Dojo is a 501c(3) non-profit organization, and visitors may observe a class in session or participate in a free class.
