The Scholastic Clays Target Program is a youth development program that focuses on clay target shooting. Participants take part in a supervised shooting program that emphasizes safety and skill development in clay target shooting. The program also focuses on teaching sound shooting fundamentals and a safe and responsible attitude towards firearms.
NRA-certified instructors at the host club teach Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun, and Personal Protection classes, and State-certified instructors offer Hunter Education classes. The Livermore-Pleasanton Rod & Gun Club, where the program takes place, offers a variety of shooting sports including rifle, pistol, trap, and Olympic bunker, and features safe, modern rifle, pistol, and trap ranges, a clubhouse, outdoor BBQ, and recreation area that create a family atmosphere. Eye and ear protection is required for all shooters and spectators on the firearm ranges. The club grounds are available for rental to individuals or local organizations.
