About

Water Safe Swim teaches back floats from any entry into the water and remaining in that position until help arrives (FLOAT skill set). The program also teaches swimming face-down while holding breath, rolling onto the back to rest and breathe and transitioning between those positions to reach safety such as a pool wall or steps (SWIM/FLOAT skill set), and uses SWIM-to-FLOAT-to-SWIM and head-up breathing or a combination of floating and head-up breathing (SWIM/FLOAT/BREATHING skill set).

About the provider

The program is built on over 25 years of Miss Julie's experience teaching infants, toddlers, and children essential, life-saving skills. The mission states that the Water Safe Swim Method is an education-based swim program rooted in water safety education that empowers children and their families with water safety skills and knowledge and that it trains and certifies independent instructors to expand access to the approach. Each independent instructor listed has been trained in the Water Safe Swim Method. Water Safe Swim engages in community outreach to raise awareness, promote life-saving skills, and ensure more families walk away from water safely.

Enrollment is through independent instructors whose businesses are independently owned and operated. Julie Schiess, doing business as Miss Julie and Water Safe Swim, is not affiliated with local referrals beyond training instructors in the Water Safe Swim Method and makes no representation, recommendation, or guarantee regarding any independent instructor. Families should independently evaluate and choose their swim instructor or program. Commitment to daily attendance and arriving early is requested to ensure consistent progress.

What families say

“We knew it would be hard to watch at first, but as new homeowners with a pool and time spent around water environments, we also knew it was a life-saving investment. To this day, I tell everyone it is the best money I ever spent.” — Jennifer M.
