Axiom Learning offers 1-on-1 tutoring with executive functioning support, test preparation for the SAT, ACT, ISEE, and SSAT, and diagnostics to understand each student’s level in a target subject. The program includes the LEAP 3.0 program for kids with ADHD, Dyslexia, Anxiety, and Autism, along with a LEAP Assessment that identifies executive functioning gaps in 5–10 minutes and provides instant, actionable reports without requiring a specialist. Axiom Learning also offers an executive functioning curriculum, a Skills for Life student-facing life skills program, workshops for students, and professional development for educators.
Founded in 2009 by Harvard alumni Shahzad Bhatti and Dr. Aisha Simon, Axiom Learning was created by a team that includes graduates of top universities. Fewer than 1 in 200 applicants are hired as instructors, and all instructors hail from top universities. Axiom Learning states that it provides school districts with research-backed tools that address the root causes of learning challenges, including executive functioning, processing skills, and self-regulation.
Axiom Learning reports that students with learning differences make 4.9 years of progress within the first 50 hours of the LEAP 3.0 program and that students see score increases over 3 times the industry average on test prep. The LEAP Assessment is described as taking 5–10 minutes and producing instant, actionable reports, and the executive functioning curriculum is described as no-prep and scripted, with 15 minutes per week of implementation. The Skills for Life program is designed for middle and high school students and is described as complementing existing SEL, aligned with MTSS Tier 1 and 2, and professional development for educators has been rated 9/10 by participating educators.
A multi-year Gates Foundation funded research pilot using Axiom Learning’s tools reported 5x math percentile growth, 2x reading percentile growth, a 30% reduction in behavioral referrals, and a 0% dropout rate in the pilot context. Axiom Learning reports that its tools are used in over 500 schools across 47 states and on multiple continents. The program has been involved in a Gates Foundation funded research pilot and notes that it has been recognized by and featured in unnamed partners.
Axiom Learning has partnered with Summit Public Schools in California, worked with Carver Middle School, and worked with Tamalpais High School. Administrators at Summit Public Schools in California stated, “This was the best 9th grade class they have ever had,” and “Whatever it is you did … we want it for all of our other students!” and also reported that “The improvement and enhanced focus of the intervention group impacted our entire ecosystem.” A 10th Grade English Teacher at Tamalpais High School described Axiom’s workshops and support during an English block as “incredibly helpful” for students, and students at Carver Middle School reported, “What I learned is that everyone can try hard and can succeed,” and “I learned to never give up.”
Parents and students have shared a range of experiences with Axiom Learning. One parent, Terri D., described a 15-year-old daughter who was “excited to spend each day over this past summer at Axiom” and reported increased confidence, motivation, self-awareness, and academic performance, along with improved focus and grades. Another parent, Julie F., described support for a 14-year-old son and stated that the Axiom team is “as educated about learning differences as they are progressive and creative in their approach” and that their son “has made great progress and has felt expertly and generously supported.” A parent, Deb C., reported that after a thorough assessment, Axiom Learning focused on a middle-schooler’s ability to focus and executive functioning using practice and “easy to do tricks,” and stated that her children’s grades “have vastly improved” and that they “enjoy school so much more.”
