Bald Eagle Sports Camps offers a range of activities including Multi-Sports Camp, Basketball Camp, Sports Leadership Field Trips Camp, and a Coach In Training program. The program also offers basketball skills clinics, holiday and vacation basketball and multi-sports camps, volleyball, strength/mobility/fitness sessions, multi-sports clinics, basketball training, birthday events, and open gym clinics. Bald Eagle Sports Camps states that its mission is to provide youth with Development Zones, described as safe spaces that teach leadership skills through sports activities. The founders of Bald Eagle Sports Camps are Bob and Glenda McFarlane. “Coach Bob” is a previously Certified Positive Coaching Alliance Trainer and has been honored as a PCA Development Zone Leadership Fellow. Bald Eagle Sports Camps has over 20 years of concept development and fine-tuning. Bob McFarlane received his BA in Kinesiology and Teaching Credential in 1994 from Chico State University, and in 2004 he obtained a second credential and a Masters Degree in Special Education from Santa Clara University. He has over 40 years of coaching experience at the youth, high school, and college levels, including 3 years as an assistant for the Chico State Men’s Basketball program, and has been a high school PE and Special Education teacher for 23 years.
The entire staff is certified as Positive Coaching Alliance Double-Goal Coaches, and every coach and staff member has been trained in Positive Coaching Alliance methods of creating an optimal culture for youth. Bald Eagle is the first ever Positive Coaching Alliance Approved Camp, and it plugs parents into the Positive Coaching Alliance support system. Bob is the founding Faculty Advisor for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the student spirit BLUE CREW at Los Altos High School. Bald Eagle serves the Peninsula and South Bay Area in California and offers a Family Referral Program where referrals can be made 365 days per year.
The summer program is described as a full-scale, 5-star summer camp program that includes three different summer camps at one location and one Coach In Training volunteer program. The Multi-Sports Camp is described as a non-traditional camp offering unique games mixed with traditional favorites in a highly active atmosphere of inclusion. The Sports Leadership Camp is described as “built for the big kids,” with two field trips each week and a “design your own activity plan” for days on campus. The Coach In Training Program is described as a premier leadership development program in the Bay Area for incoming 9th and 10th graders. Snacks are included at summer camp, and vacation camps are offered in fall, winter, and spring.
Basketball offerings include beginner to intermediate practices and games led by professionally trained coaches, with practice and game on the same day. Intermediate, advanced, and elite level basketball teams include training, tournaments, travel, speed/agility training, and private basketball skill training.
