Bay Area Dance School

Bay Area Dance School offers classes including ballet, jazz, contemporary, hip hop, acro-dance, tap, lyrical, Boys Only, Mommy & Me, Pre-Ballet, and Pre-Jazz/Tap. The program also includes Pre-School Dance, Mommy & Me classes, School Dance, an Acuity Competition Team, and a Summer Session. From tap to acrobatics, pre-ballet to pointe, Bay Area Dance School offers classes for dancers ages two through adult.

• Schedule: All classes are 45-minutes long, and the program begins each year at the end of August, with additional options in a flexible Summer Session.
• Price: Monthly Tuition - Academy Program 2026-2027: 1 class = $135; 2 classes = $240; 3 classes = $335; 4 classes = $425; 5 classes = $505; 6 classes = $570; 7 classes = $615; 8 classes = $670; Unlimited classes = $715; Drop-In Class = $30; Registration Fee and Studio Policy = $55 per dancer; There is a $50 non-refundable, required registration fee per student.

Pre-School Dance is a program for children aged 5 years old and under and is structured to let them experience music and dance while learning proper dance technique, with all classes in this program running 45 minutes. Mommy & Me classes are offered for 2-year-old boys and girls, and parents in Mommy & Me are asked to dress comfortably and bring dance shoes or socks, while children are asked to be in dance attire. Boys Only classes are specifically designed for young male dancers.

Acuity Dancers is a studio company for serious young dancers who are committed to exploration and excellence within the art of dance, and participation is by invitation and audition only. Members of Acuity Dancers take daily technique classes, attend competitions and conventions, participate in workshops, engage in community work, and receive personalized mentorship.

The summer dance program is described as a flexible and fun way for students to stay active, explore new styles, and continue developing their technique during the summer months, with classes available for all ages and levels from beginner to advanced in ballet, jazz, contemporary, hip hop, and acro-dance. Bay Area Dance School presents an Annual Spring Recital on June 10–11, 2025, at the Woodside High School Performing Arts Center.

Bay Area Dance School notes that choosing the school is presented as giving a child the gift of creativity, confidence, and joy that will last a lifetime. The school states it has “Award Winning Excellence In Dance Education.”

Dress guidelines specify that all students must have tap shoes. Girls are asked to wear a pink, black, white, or pastel-colored leotard with pink, black, or tan tights or white ankle socks, with no tutus or skirts below knee length, and to have hair pulled off the face and neck using styles such as buns, braids pinned over the head, French braids, pigtails, or ponytails, with short hair held by a thick headband and clips, hairpins, or hairnets as needed. Girls’ shoes are listed as pink ballet shoes with elastic (canvas or leather) for ballet, black Mary-Jane style tap shoes with tap ties for tap, barefoot or ballet shoes for jazz, and white-soled tennis shoes or Converse used only for dance class for hip hop. Boys are asked to wear a black or white fitted shirt with black basketball or bike shorts and white socks, with hair pulled off the face and neck or held with a thick headband, clips, and hairpins as needed. Boys’ shoes are listed as black or white ballet shoes with elastic for ballet, black oxford-style tap shoes for tap, barefoot or ballet shoes for jazz, and white-soled tennis shoes or Converse used only for dance class for hip hop.
