About

Brain and Body Autism Center Programs offers activities such as speech therapy, occupational therapy, gymnastics, music and movement therapy, piano lessons, art, vocal activities, violin classes, sports, reading and reading comprehension instruction, math instruction, outdoor games like tag, soccer, and basketball, and indoor activities such as board games, card games, chess, knitting, and weaving. The summer camp includes Music & Socio-Recreational Games, and all children are introduced to two different sports over the two-month program. Violin classes are offered to children who already have foundational music reading skills, and gymnastics sessions are available in both 1:1 and group formats, with progression from 1:1 to group as children gain confidence and control.

• Ages: 2–11 years old
• Schedule: Summer camp runs June 8th–August 7th, Monday–Friday, with a morning program 9:30 am–12 pm and an afternoon program 2 pm–5 pm; the intensive early intervention program runs five days a week for 1–2.5 hours each day.
• Price: Gymnastics: $55 per session. Piano: $50 per session. Music & Socio-Recreational Games: $30 per session.

The morning summer camp program is for children between the ages of 2–6, and the afternoon program is for children between the ages of 6–9. The program is open to both neurodivergent and neurotypical children, and the camp is open to typical children or siblings as well. Every day, neurotypical elementary and middle school children participate in the summer camp, and each autistic child is paired with a buddy. Children are grouped based on their skill level, and children who need additional academic support receive individualized 1:1 instruction in reading, reading comprehension, and math. Individualized piano instruction adapts to each child’s needs, with all students learning to play with both hands and read music notation over time. Music & Socio-Recreational Games explicitly teach the rules of play and provide guided practice in mixed groups under supervision. Superbill documents are provided for speech therapy and occupational therapy to seek reimbursement through insurance, and invoices are provided for music and movement therapy and piano lessons to seek reimbursement through the regional center.

The intensive early intervention program is a highly individualized, five-day-a-week program for young children who benefit from early, brain-body–based intervention. At Brain and Body Autism Center, the Brain-Body Dynamics Model (BBDM) is used as a cohesive, evidence-based framework for children on the autism spectrum.

The team of professionals includes a Speech Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Gymnastics Teacher, Piano Teacher, Lindamood-Bell trained professionals, and teacher aides. A licensed Speech Therapist provides individual or small group speech therapy for up to two children at a time. Teachers are trained in evidence-based approaches, including Lindamood-Bell programs for reading and comprehension, and the classic Montessori method is incorporated for math. Teachers are trained to work with neurodiverse learners and have a track record of success, regardless of diagnosis.
